What are your two wishes?

If you could have two wishes granted for your life, what would they be? World peace? No. Against the rules. Feed the hungry? Nope, again. They have to be about YOU. And not material possessions. Eliminate money from the equation. If you could grant any two wishes for yourself… what would they be? Think about it. Ponder this.

My whole idea behind starting Dreamin’ the Life is the concept that in order to live the life you have imagined, you must be able to dream it first. Many of us are scared to even dream. Scared to let our minds wander into the ultimate fantasy of what could be… And if you can’t even dream it, there is no way you can live it. I have found that as soon as I begin to day dream about all the things in life that I want, my negative self begins to sneak in and tell me why it won’t work. Fear creeps in, and starts to shout louder than your dreams, telling you all the reasons they can’t happen.

That’s why you have to dream louder.

D. Sharon Pruitt

In future articles, I will pose question to ponder, and dreams to consider. Give yourself the few minutes to shut out the outer activity, get away from Twitter, and lay down the Blackberry. I have found recently that the more I am able to let my mind wander into the realms of what could be , the closer I get to believing that my dreams can become a reality. Life is naturally discouraging. The world poses enough challenges and obstacles, don’t put up barriers for yourself.

What two ultimate wishes you grant for yourself?

I have recently come up with these two wishes for myself. It doesn’t have anything to do with material possessions, or have to do with anyone else. It’s my moment to be completely selfish and create the life I want by taking baby steps into dreaming bigger.

My two wishes are:
• To live without fear
• Be constantly inspired

Fear is a perplexing concept, and one that is the underlying cause of problems for most people. My reasoning behind picking these two wishes is this: Fear holds you back, and inspiration propels you forward. Without fear, nothing could hold me back. With constant inspiration, I would have unlimited power and strength to dream, be, and create anything I wish.

I believe that we have complete responsibility over our lives. It can be as horrible or as wonderful as we chose to perceive it, and create it. So, you don’t need to wait around for your little genie to pop up. You don’t have to hope to win the lottery. You have complete control over your life. Think about what your two wishes for yourself would be… and then remember, you have the power to make them happen. Screw the genie.

I forget where I heard this quote, but I think you’d like it. “The world we live in is the world we create.”

Excellent quote, Josh! I’m going to write that one down. And live that way. :)

To me it sounds somewhat dr Wayne Dyer’ish, although he might have heard it from one of his teachers…

But – now I forget where I heard it ;) – a good idea does not care who had it first. Great quote! :)

Love this. Your insight is motivating and I think you chose some very wise wishes… but, like you said, they don’t have to remain dreams as we all have the power to take responsibility for our lives.
I can’t wait to see what more comes of this blog… I think you’re on to something pretty great here. =)

awwwwsome post

so moving. love the way you write, most motivational stuff gets really bland and dull.

i’d go for just one wish – not one to be greedy ;) that wish would be to live completely released, to just be able to be without thought litter and noise

inspiring article
gave it a stumble

I think I would have to go with:

1) To find happiness in everything I do
2) Not sure what two would be actually. I guess if one comes true, then that is all I really need!

Thanks for the post!

Thanks Sean! I like your wishes… and how you simplified it down to one. I think happiness is everyone’s ultimate goal! :)

My Wishes:

1. – To be content always… no matter which state I find myself in.
2. – To live simply and deliberately.

Love #2. Beautiful things to strive for… simplicity, contentment, and deliberate living. :)

1. To have patience with my loved ones.
2. To successfully teach my kids how to live a good and honest life.

Number 2 is the most important since I think it is the most important thing I can do with my life. That sounds very cliche but given what life has dealt them I have found it to be a reality.

Great wishes… I agree that being a good parent is one of the best things you can accomplish. And probably toughest things too… and I know I will find out one day…

I’m not sure what my two wishes would be… I’ll have to think about it. :)

(By the way, I subscribed to your blog via email, but your last two posts haven’t been delivered. I just thought you might want to know.)

This is definately a question I ask myself way too often. You’d think I’d finally have an answer, but nope…. To live abroad and to be a great chef. Wishing to live free is a good one as a canopy wish. Ha… i try to fool shooting stars and 11:11 with wishes like that everyday :)

Haha.. exactly, wishes for the perfect wishes!! I knew you were a perfectionist, too! Love it. I like the thought of the canopy wishes…. sort of like the perfect wish that makes all other wishes possible. But, then it gets a little redundant. I don’t think you have trouble in dreaming big…. you inspire me with all that you want to do! :)

Great post Karen, always a pleasure to read. I would say mine would be…

1. To abandon the fear of death (because really, that is the core of all fears).

2. To know there is more than this life (because really, that is the ONE big question we all want to know).

:)

Nice job!
