5 Most Unusual and Interesting People on Twitter

MeTwitter
I’ve been on Twitter for only a few short months now, and like many others, I’ve found it to be addictive and consuming. I love the fast pace and abundance of interesting people, new ideas, inspiring quotes, and brevity of conversation.

Although I am following over a thousand people, a few unusual ones stood out to me as soon as I found them. They are hand picked and pop up unexpectedly in my “Favorite People” column in Tweetdeck. Every time I see a new tweet from them, I am tickled with a new, amusing tidbit of information.

I hope this guides you to follow some new people that often make my day with their humor and cleverness…all in under 140 characters.

Here are some of my favorite, and most unusual Twitters (in no particular order):

1. Capture

@ArjunBasu
Arjun writes short stories in every tweet. Not only is this idea very clever, but he is incredibly good at it. And, he posts often, follows through and delivers consistently. He is one of my favorite tweeters, and a wonderful story teller under very difficult self-imposed circumstances.

2. SeenontheBus
seenonthebustweet
@SeenontheBus
SeenontheBus is another one of my favorite, clever tweeters. She rides the bus in Portland and writes tweets based on what she sees. I am a huge fan of public transportation, not only for the environmental benefits, but because it shows you the most fascinating side of life. I rode the bus last year for a short time when I didn’t have a car, and I used to text my mom all of the fascinating people and situations that I observed. I wish I wrote them all down in a notebook, or had been on Twitter at the time. Seenonthebus shares my appreciation for observing people, while capturing the situations in 140 characters.

3. RudytheParrot2

@RudytheParrot
Maybe it’s just the fact that it’s one of the only birds on twitter, actually tweeting. We all must be doing it wrong. The irony is just too much for me to handle, and Rudy is a funny little bird. He tweets about his life, learning to use the toilet, and getting to eat a dumpling at the Chinese Restaurant.

4. farted
Fartedtweet
@Farted
This Tweeter might be a bit self indulgent to the adolescent boy hidden deep inside of me… so I won’t really be offended if you aren’t as amused by fart jokes as I am. This is actually not a “real” person, but a robot that retweets anyone that says “farted”. The simplicity of it, and the fact that someone took the time to code it and set up the account, makes it all the more meaningful. Someone actually had the idea to create a script that would retweet every person who typed in “farted” to twitter. That in itself makes them a genius in my mind. Or maybe I just have low standards.

5. shitmydadsays
shitmydadsaystweet
@Shitmydadsays

I had to save the best for last. And he doesn’t get one example, but two. They are all brilliant, really. Or maybe I just have an odd sense of humor. Justin is a 28 year old guy that lives at home with his 73 year old dad. His bio on Twitter appropriately describes what he does by saying, “I just write down shit that he says”

If you enjoyed this article, go follow me on Twitter here. I promise to try and be almost as interesting as these people above. ;)
