Back in July, I made a list of the amazing bloggers who have inspired me. I’m lucky enough to say that I have met so many incredible, creative, and inspiring people that it’s time to make a follow-up list.
Part of the fun of being in a group of interesting bloggers is the rabbit hole that you climb down as you meet more and more people. One creative and interesting comment leads to someone else’s blog with fascinating articles. Connecting with them on Twitter, exchanging comments, or even just quietly subscribing and being a reader of their site leads further and further down that hole. But don’t get me wrong, it’s a great rabbit hole to get lost in.
Here is the second list of my favorite bloggers and inspiring people… for those times that I need a kick in the ass and motivation, I turn to them. I hope you enjoy them as much as I have, and thank you to everyone on this list for inspiring me with your words.
1. Adam Baker of Man vs. Debt
Adam is a new guy on my radar, but someone who’s name I’ve seen thrown around with high regard. Everyone who talks about him speaks incredibly highly. And after recently getting in touch with him, I immediately saw why. Not only does the guy have an incredible, non-conventional story, but he provides down to earth, interesting articles about traveling down under with his wife and young daughter, while providing clever ideas about fighting debt.
2. JD Bentley of Wage Slave Rebel
The first thing I noticed about JD is that he’s incredibly nice and helpful. I somehow ran into him in the lifestyle design community and after reading his story about how he quit a job he hated to pursue being self employed, I became an instant fan. Plus, he has tons of technical skills that I am incredibly jealous of, and I figure that if I talk to him every so often I might just acquire a few by osmosis.
His main site is about dismantling the status quo. He writes about lifestyle design, blogging, entrepreneurship, and just overall being a bad ass/ out-of-the-box thinker. He is a freelance designer, and creates sites that make me drool over their sharp, clean, and gorgeous layouts. As soon as I scrape enough pennies together, I plan on hiring him to redesign this site. Also, my brother will be using him soon to create a site for his new business. Check out his design services here.
3. Brad Chaffee of Enemy of Debt
Brad’s blog title sums up what he is all about: He is an enemy of debt. He takes on a subject that is prevalent to everyone of us…finances and debt. He recently was able to proclaim himself as debt free (!!!) after a 20 month battle against the debt. His clever articles show his brave attitude about taking back control of his life by eliminating credit cards, car payments, and other financial burdens that most of us consider essential. Despite being recently debt free, Brad continues on to teach others ways to follow in his footsteps and release the control that money holds over so many of us.
4. Dena Botbyl of Evolution
When I stumbled upon Dena’s blog a few weeks ago, her words instantly spoke to me. It was like I had written certain articles on her blog. Dena and I have so much in common from learning to be positive in order to turn our lives around, to just the general deep, analytical thinking that comes so naturally to her. She is another new comer on the blog scene, but her wisdom that comes through in her self aware, and in-depth style of writing offer great lessons to anyone else fortunate to find her blog.
5. Paul Norwine of PaulNorwine.com
Paul is a new blogger that made the radical move of quitting a lucrative job in order to pursue an entrepreneurial career online. He admits that he is brand new to the game and still has a lot to learn, but his obvious go getter attitude make his brave move a no brainer. This guy is destined for success, and his blog is a fascinating look at his adventure.
6. Dave Damron of Life Excursion
As soon as I met Dave a couple months ago, he quickly because my blogging buddy. His incredible work ethic (he posts regularly 6 posts per week on his site), as well as his ambitious nature are contagious. Despite being a beginner blogger like myself, he has quickly taken off and developed a substantial audience to read his articles on topics like health, finance, minimalism, and organization. He recently even inspired me to attempt minimalism despite my naturally non-minimalistic habits. His highly infectious optimism, and ambitious attitude towards life is spatters in everything he writes and easily makes his readers want to be a better forms of themselves.
7. Ken Kurosawa of Wasabi Burger
I first found Ken’s site when he reposted Zack Arias’ brilliant video “Dope, Soap and Hope”. Ken writes about inspirational topics, with the brilliant, simple tag line of: Small Steps toward Big Change. If we could all just be reminded every day of this wisdom, I think accomplishing our goals would be so much easier. But this is exactly why I am a frequent reader of Ken’s blog… it keeps me simply inspired.
8. Nate Damm of The Way That You Wander
Nate is a young guy from the East Coast that is a self proclaimed obsessed internet entrepreneur. He just started a creative business setting up WordPress sites for free. I admire his fresh and optimistic outlook on life, as well as the fact that he doesn’t proclaim to be an expert on anything. His curiosity about life makes his lessons come through in his writing, in an appealing way because the reader are learning right along with him.
9. Matt of Nomadic Matt
The simple fact that Matt would eat sushi for breakfast made me a fan of the guy immediately. He’s a 20 something that has been traveling the world since 2005, which also makes him a hero in my eyes. He offers articles about the nomadic life that are intriguing, and helpful to people that desire to do what he makes a lifestyle. He inspires me simply because he reminds me that my distant dreams of having a nomadic life are possible.
10. Diggy of Upgrade Reality
Diggy is one of a kind. I first learned about him from one of his best friends, Glen Allsopp and have had the pleasure of watching his new blog evolve into a serious contender in the personal development blogosphere over the past couple months. His simple approach to self improvement makes his articles not only readable, but his suggestions do-able. He writes about his personal experience mixed with life lessons that are wise beyond his years.
Thanks again to everyone on this list who inspire me to keep writing, and learning. If you would like to check out my 3rd list of Blogging Allstars, which will no doubt be coming in the coming months, don’t forget to subscribe to Dreamin’ the Life.

Nice write up Karen! Thank you for including me in your list of inspiration. You have some great thinkers and writers on this list. I love JD’s story as well. Most people would NEVER EVER quit a job to pursue their dreams.
I’ve only recently come across Wage Slave Rebel, PaulNorwine.com, Life Excursion, Wasabi Burger, The Way That You Wander and Upgrade Reality and ýour own Dreamin The Life. They are all great and have made me so happy to find so many other lifestyle bloggers out there. I felt quite alone before that.
I will definitely check the other ones out. Thank you so much for this list!!! It will cause my Google Reader RSS list to get bigger.
Thank you so much for the kind words Karen. All of these blogs are awesome and I suggest everyone check them out when they get a chance.
